Raised pimples, scattered granules, or blisters. These are just some of the typical symptoms of unpleasant rashes. Some are dry, others are weeping. They can be painful, itchy and, in extreme cases, can become infected.
Allergies, infectious diseases or the effects of various physical factors. These are all causes that can lead to the development of unpleasant rashes. They affect all age groups, including children and seniors. In practice, you may encounter three basic types of rashes, which we will discuss in this article.
Allergic rashes
The first type is known as allergic rashes. They are caused by excessive hypersensitivity of the immune system to various allergens. These can include, for example:
- Certain foods such as milk or eggs
- Dust mites and other animal allergens
- Medications (e.g., antibiotics)
- Metals such as chromium or nickel
- Cosmetics
Allergic rashes come in many different forms. It mainly depends on the cause and severity. Similar to itchy rashes, it involves dry to scaly skin, swelling, blisters, or various red spots. Allergic hives can disappear within a few hours, but treatment can take several weeks.
Stress rashes
Due to our hectic lifestyles, we are increasingly encountering stress rashes. These most often manifest as hives, i.e., swollen pimples that resemble mosquito bites. Stress rashes also tend to be very itchy, which is why some people often confuse them with itchy rashes.
How to get rid of stress rashes? Unlike allergic rashes, it is usually enough to eliminate major mental stress.
Ideally, you should follow basic rules of mental hygiene before and after work or school. Eat well, relax, and exercise. This will reduce the risk of problems.
CBD as a remedy for stress rashes
It is clear that almost everyone experiences stress and mood swings from time to time. However, there is a clear difference between “healthy stress” and “unhealthy stress.” If you are struggling with the latter, the cannabinoid CBD may help. It helps regulate stress, relieve anxiety, and reduce symptoms of depression.
CBD also helps protect the body from oxidative damage, lower cortisol levels, and promote restorative sleep.
Itchy rashes
Psoriasis and eczema are the most common examples of itchy rashes. Over the years, scientists have been trying to find suitable medications that will simply get rid of such rashes.
However, instead of pharmacy products, our grandmothers often chose alternatives. They approached treatment with commonly available ingredients. Many people still choose these methods today and report excellent results. What are they?
Soothing oat baths
Our grandmothers and great-grandmothers knew that pleasant and invigorating baths are a great way to soothe unpleasant itching. The most common remedy found in books is oat baths.
This is a great way for anyone to easily and cheaply relieve unpleasant itching and rashes. Oats contain active ingredients with anti-inflammatory effects. Simply add regular oatmeal to a bathtub filled with warm water and soak in it for 15 to 20 minutes. You should see the first improvements within a few days.
Ginger compresses
Ginger, which was first cultivated in China two thousand years ago, also has refreshing and anti-inflammatory effects. Today, it is a very popular spice, but it also has great healing properties. Its advantage is its availability. Ginger is easy to find in any grocery store or supermarket.
Ginger maintains adequate blood sugar levels and supports optimal cardiovascular function. It helps the body’s natural defenses and supports the respiratory and immune systems.
It is also great for treating skin problems. Simply grate some fresh ginger, apply it to the affected area, and leave it on for a few minutes. However, do not overdo it, and be sure to rinse the skin thoroughly afterwards.
The power of apple cider vinegar
Apple cider vinegar has also been a very popular ingredient in recent years. It is great for weight loss, lowering cholesterol levels in the blood, and treating skin problems. High-quality apple cider vinegar also contains many antioxidants and amino acids, as well as large amounts of potassium.
Apple cider vinegar helps eliminate certain types of bacteria. It is therefore suitable for fighting unpleasant acne. However, keep in mind that apple cider vinegar must be diluted sufficiently before use on the skin. In extreme cases, it can cause minor burns, and in cases of atopic eczema, baths with apple cider vinegar can lead to even greater tissue damage.
Our grandmothers discovered that apple cider vinegar works as an excellent moisturizing tonic. It cleanses the skin and removes various bacteria. Simply mix two tablespoons of this vinegar in a glass of water and apply the mixture to cleansed skin with a cotton pad.
Hemp products
Another way to soothe itchy skin is with CBD products. They are renowned among users prone to diaper rash, eczema, psoriasis, and various forms of acne for their unique ability to heal irritated skin.
An example of such a product is hemp oil. It contains hemp, shea butter, and hemp oil. Even today, hemp products are an excellent choice for a wide variety of skin conditions.
Conclusion
Folk remedies can be a suitable way to treat mild forms of rashes. Oatmeal baths or ginger compresses can adequately soothe the skin. However, it is important to remember that folk remedies are not suitable in some cases. If the rash persists despite alternative treatment, or if other symptoms such as fever or headache appear, or if the rash spreads quickly to other areas, it is always necessary to consult a doctor who can clarify the possible causes. At the same time, it is not advisable to experiment too much with home remedies on young children.
