Official accessories
Various accessories are also available, such as a curved mouthpiece, which makes handheld vaping a little easier. If you want even cleaner and cooler vapour, you can purchase an attachment to connect a water bubbler to the Air 2.
Design
The Air 2 has a slim cylindrical shape, so it fits comfortably in your hand, the buttons are easy to access and the mouthpiece is easy to attach. The Air 2 is advertised as portable, but it’s a bit too big for that and won’t fit in your pocket.
At over 12 centimetres tall, it is even taller than its big brother, the difficult-to-carry Arizer Solo 2, although it is significantly slimmer. However, if you want a truly portable device, you should go for the Arizer Go instead.
If you want to take it with you, you will need a large handbag, backpack or the included carrying case. This contains several practical compartments for storing the mouthpiece and an additional 18650 battery. This extra battery is useful because it can be replaced in the Air 2, which is always a plus. In terms of appearance, the Air 2 stands out with its shape, but is generally rather average.
Features
A distinctive feature of the Air 2 – and all Arizer vaporisers – is the borosilicate glass mouthpiece. It allows for a unique way of filling the herb and, thanks to its length, helps keep the vapour cool. It also keeps the vapour clean, as the neutral material does not affect the taste of the vapour in any way.
In addition, it reduces draw resistance, making inhalation easy. The biggest downside is that it limits portability while attached to the rest of the vaporizer. If you want to take the Air 2 with you wherever you go, you will need to carry these two pieces separately.
How to use it
- Turn on the Air 2 by holding the power button for 3 seconds.
- Use the up and down arrows to select the temperature.
- Insert the mouthpiece base into the crushed herb, remove it and tap the loaded herb lightly to create a slight gap between the herb and the base opening.
- Insert the mouthpiece into the bowl and then inhale the vapour.
Cleaning and maintenance
Air 2 is a very low-maintenance device, so you won’t have to spend much time cleaning it. If you need to clean it, simply soak the mouthpiece in isopropyl alcohol for a few hours, then rinse it with hot water and you’re done. It is best to clean the Air 2 immediately after use, while the residue is still warm. If you let it cool and dry, the mouthpiece will be much more difficult to clean.
Vaporiser performance
The Air 2 takes a long time to heat up. In fact, it takes more than a minute, which is really a lot among herbal vaporizers. However, it remains cool to the touch during use. The airflow is also very good, allowing you to take huge lung-filling puffs or small, elegant sips.
Vapour quality
The glass mouthpiece is once again the star here, as the vapour produced is fresh, cool and tasty. Since there are no impurities in the air path, you get the full flavour of the herb every time.
The Air 2 has a wide temperature range from 50 to 220 °C, and I preferred to stick to the 175 °C to 200 °C range, as that’s where I got the best flavour.
This vaporiser doesn’t produce huge clouds, but that’s fine because it’s great for discretion if you’re vaping outdoors. As mentioned earlier, the airflow resistance is low, so it’s easy to enjoy delicious vapour.
Battery performance
The replaceable 18650 battery has a capacity of 3200 mAh and lasts approximately 65 to 80 minutes, which is decent. However, it takes about two hours to recharge, which is a downside.
Fortunately, there are ways to make this wait more bearable. First, pass-through charging is available, so you can continue vaping while the Air 2 is charging. Even better, you can simply replace the dead battery with a new one, so you never have to stop vaping for long.
