Dimensions of the device
Right off the bat, I’ll admit that Crafty surprised me with its performance. I’ve tried a few vaporizers, so I have an idea of what to expect. So when I unpacked the device, which measures 11.0 x 5.7 x 3.3 cm and weighs 135 grams, it flashed through my mind that the vapour would be practically invisible when in use. I couldn’t have been more wrong.
Steam
I have no idea how they do it at Storz & Bickel, but if I wore a hat, I would take it off in admiration of their craftsmanship. The very first time I used it, my lungs were filled with such thick vapour that I had to look down to make sure I wasn’t holding the bigger brother of the Mighty. It was the Crafty. As I exhaled, I watched in disbelief as a thick cloud slowly drifted away, dissolving only very reluctantly.
In addition to producing breathtaking vapour, the Crafty shares many other features with its sibling. For example, it has the same hybrid heating system for herbs, a vibration alarm, a sophisticated heat-dissipating design… and, unfortunately, one feature that slightly lowers its rating, which is the heating time. Even this smaller device needs around two minutes before the herbs are ready.
Batteries, buttons and charging
Does it seem like the only difference is the size? That’s not the case. In addition to a battery with a shorter life (although it’s still top-notch compared to similarly sized competitors), the controls and the way the user is informed about the status of the vaporizer have also undergone changes.
With the Crafty, the control options are limited to a single button (the second option is to use a mobile app, but more on that later), and information about the vaporizer’s status is conveyed to the user via coloured LED strips, which, however, only provide very general information through colour changes or flashing.
I understand that it is not easy to fit a display and buttons for precise temperature control into such a small space, but the DaVinci Miqro has managed to do so. And it is much smaller. If you want and need to set your vaporizer precisely, you MUST use the mobile app.
Finally, I would like to add one more observation – the Crafty can be charged via a standard USB. Many vaporizers require a special charger. If it breaks, there is no other option but to contact the manufacturer. This is a big plus for the Storz & Bickel product.
Verdict
Personally, I like fuller vapour that you can really feel in your lungs (maybe because I used to be a smoker). Crafty is not only the currently best portable vaporiser in this respect.
Thanks to its small size, it is easy to carry, discreet to use, has a sophisticated design and, last but not least, its basic operation is as easy as it can be.
Newer model Crafty+ C available from Canatura
The Crafty vaporizer is no longer available, but we have a newer version, the Crafty + C, for you.
The biggest innovation is the improved battery, which lasts longer, charges faster and has a heating time reduced to just 60 seconds. You can now use three preset temperatures instead of two, as was the case with the previous version. It can handle herbs, oils and concentrates.
Thanks to the new circuit board, the device is smaller and the redesigned outer shell is even more discreet. And as a bonus, you get a one-year longer warranty (3 years if you register the model directly with Storz & Bickel).
Crafty+ is the ideal choice for beginners and advanced users – compact, easy to use and with tasty, cool vapour. Half the size of Mighty, but without compromising on performance.
The Crafty+ vaporiser can run for up to 90 minutes on a single charge, and vibrations alert you when the battery is low. You can easily find the ideal mode thanks to the included mat and precise temperature settings from 40 to 210 °C.
Via the Bluetooth app (for Android), you can adjust the temperature, LED brightness or turn off the vibrations. You can also save your favourite settings. However, you can operate the device without the app – it is just an optional bonus.
Accessories (included)

- 3x sealing rings, small
